2013
CALIFORNIA SCIENCE
EDUCATION CONFERENCE
OCTOBER 25-27, 2013 • PALM SPRINGS
Please read the information on this page fully before
you begin the proposal process. We recommend that you
print this page.
Before you begin the workshop proposal process, please
have ready:
-
Your complete contact information.
-
A detailed description of your commercial workshop
for the review committee. Please describe activities,
materials used, lecture outline, and any other
information that describes the content and format
of your session. We recommend that you cut and
paste from a word processing program.
-
A brief description (max: 30 words) of your
workshop to be printed in the conference program.
This is your opportunity to tell conference
attendees about your workshop.
Format
Commercial workshops are one hour in length. Commercial
workshops are held concurrently with non-commercial
workshops on the Friday and Saturday of the conference.
Commercial workshop rooms are set classroom style
with 6' - 8' tables and chairs.
Compensation
There is no compensation for commercial workshop presenters.
Commercial workshop presenters will be provided with
a badge as an exhibitor only. Commercial workshop
presenters will not be issued a separate conference
presenter badge.
Expenses
Commercial workshop presenters are NOT reimbursed
for the cost of materials used in their session, nor
are they reimbursed for meals, airfare, lodging, or
any other travel-related expenses.
Co-Presenters
The lead presenter is the person submitting the proposal.
The lead presenter will have the opportunity to add
one co-presenter to the workshop description before
the program is printed. The co-presenter is listed in
the program but does not receive any compensation or
correspondence from CSTA. The co-presenter must also
be included in the list of booth staff for the exhibiting
company.
Audio-Visual
Equipment
CSTA provides an overhead projector and screen in all
rooms. All other AV equipment, including microphones,
speakers, LCD projectors, and phone lines, must be supplied
by or rented by the presenter at the presenter’s
own expense. Presenters are allowed to bring
their own AV equipment but may be charged a patch or
hookup fee by the in-house audio-visual supplier. CSTA
will not be responsible for equipment brought or rented
by any presenter. For equipment rental information,
contact the Conference
Manager.
Internet
Access
CSTA will provide WI-FI access in meeting rooms and
public spaces during the conference. This access will
not extend into the exhibit hall. This will be an open
WI-FI access for conference participants and presenters,
so speeds will vary based on the number of users. If
you are planning to access large files or videos, CSTA
encourages you to download them in advance to avoid
any technical issues during your presentation.
Presentation
Fee
There is a fee of $100 per one-hour workshop. This fee
must be paid by July 16, 2013. For exhibitors wishing
to present for more than one consecutive hour, please
indicate the requested amount of time in your proposal.
Deadlines
Commercial workshop proposals must be submitted
by June 1, 2013.
Late submissions will be considered on a space-available
basis but may not appear in the conference registration
or promotional materials. All proposals will be evaluated
by the review committee and not all proposals will be
accepted. Please note that we receive many more proposals
than we are able to accept.
