Field Experience Grants
CSTA is pleased to announce the establishment of a new member
program: The Science Field Experience Professional
Development Grant Program. Working with field experience
providers and corporate funders, CSTA is able to offer free,
all-expense-paid field excursions to science-related destinations
throughout the world.
CSTA is committed to recognizing and encouraging excellence
in science teaching through the presentation of awards to
science educators who have made outstanding contributions
in science education and who are poised to continue the momentum
of providing high quality, relevant science education into
the future. CSTA will provide science field experiences to
members who meet the following criteria and submit the field
experience grant application.
Criteria In order to be considered for the field
experience, applicants must:
- be a member of CSTA for a minimum of three years
- be a U.S. citizen
- evidence a willingness to work and learn with a team of
scientists
- agree to share information about the science field experience
by presenting a workshop at the CSTA Science Education Conference
- complete the application and sign the liability release
form
Grant Amounts
Transportation to the field site, room, and board are provided
by the grant. Any costs over and above these allotments are
the responsibility of the recipient. The amount of the award
is determined by the partnership funding source and the field
experience funding costs.
Application Process
Applicants must submit:
- The Science Field Experience Professional Development
Application.
- Personal information, including résumé
- Liability release form (will be provided upon acceptance
by CSTA)
- Two letters of recommendation written by CSTA members
in good standing
