Timeline for NGSS Implementation in California

The following timeline of events has been compiled by CSTA from various sources including the California Department of Education, the State Board of Education, and the California Legislature. The timeline is updated periodically as information becomes available and as NGSS implementation progresses.

July 16 - 20, 2018

Instructional Material Reviewers deliberate their reviews.

2018-2019

Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) – Participate in opportunities in your district to provide input in your district’s LCAP. Implementation of NGSS should be included in State Priority #2 and elsewhere. See http://wp.me/p4ic4P-3fc for tips.

August 13, 2018

Instructional Quality Commission holds hearing on K-8 Instructional Materials to receive public comment.

September 21 - 22, 2018

Instructional Quality Commission votes on recommendations of instructional materials for adoption.

November 8 - 9, 2018

California State Board of Education will hold a public hearing and vote on the adoption of K-8 Instructional Materials.

November 29, 2018
